Piano Man Layout

Hi Everyone,
Well today will be a very very long day. I'm dropping Ethan off at school and then heading to work for 8am. I'll probably be spending the whole day helping get everything set for the fundraiser tonight that starts at 5pm. Hopefully I get a minute to run home and freshen up before the party begins.

Tomorrow we are heading to the cottage to start painting and getting the place opened for the summer. I'm hoping between my brother-in-law and myself we can get the place painted in one day. I've got my fingers crossed...I'd love to have two whole days with nothing to do...except laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping...Oh now why did I go and starting thinking about that...

Anyway, yesterday I had the afternoon to play and worked on a layout of Ethan. He started taking piano lessons about two summers ago and we decided that after a years worth of lessons it was time to get rid of the keyboard that he was practicing on and get him a real piano. My favorite picture is of him leaning on the door watching the guys unload it...He was so excited and he plays the piano beautifully.

Here is the layout and a few pictures. I can't believe how much Ethan has grown even from last year.

Piano man is cut from the Alphalicous Cricut Cartridge..I cut it in two layers at the same size and just off centered the letters so the black card stock would show under the orange card stock.
For the most part the layout is done with October Afternoon pattern paper. The music note paper is from Thrift Shop and the orange and white polka dots are from 5 & Dime...I also used a cream card stock for the base of the layout and a green for some accent.

I have to tell you I've been singing Piano Man (Billy Joel) for the past two days. For those of you that have heard me sing...well, as my dad always says "Sing by the door, we'll help you out"...

I'm really behind on my email....I hope to get caught up this weekend...

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Hugs and happy crafting.

Cards, flowers, layouts and even fabric. You can even make your own flat back pearls with these pens...Oh and wait till you see what else you can do. Check out the video...

Here is a video tutorial on some ideas you can do with the pens. Enjoy

Here are the Viva Decor Pearl Pens that I own...Love Them...

Picture Frame

Hi Everyone,
The library is having a big fundraiser this Friday and three of us crafty girls are each doing something to put into a raffle basket.
Since the party is this Friday I didn't have time to work on a mini album so I went with a picture frame. The frame is from Michael's wood section and holds a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" photo.

I used some pleated trim around picture area, it highlights the frame nicely and looks great with the October Afternoon "Thrifty Shop" paper. The flowers are from I Am Roses and I love them. Look at the detail in the mulberry. Stunning! I also added some skeleton leaves and prima bling.

I distressed the ends of the paper to give it a little more detail.

Well thats all for today, thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

My Top 10 Crafting Must Haves

Hi All,
I so wanted to have a video for you today and I sat down after Ethan went to bed last night to create and I just couldn't. Between an extremely busy week at work, my allergies, our poor sick kitty, and everyday life I was too tired, just couldn't come up with anything...So I decided it's time for me to share my...

Top 10 must haves for scrapping...These are some of the things you'll find on my desk when I'm working on a project. They are in no particular order...

1. ATG...I will admit when I first saw everyone buying the ATG I thought there is no way I'm paying $50 for a tape gun (that was before the pink one). NO NO NO! I will stick with my little tape runner...Then I caved and I have to say I'm glad I did...I love my ATG...I order my refills at Crop and Stick

2. Card stock...I started with Stampin' Up! (I was a hobby demo at the time) and then moved to Paper Trey Ink. I love PTI Card stock. I love all the colors but my faves are Aqua Mist, Sweet blush, lemon tart, and Ripe Avocado. I also can't live without Kraft and Vintage Cream. I'm always re-ordering those. I also love their white card stock for Copic markers.

3. Stamps...Well I love all stamps but Paper Trey Ink (If you couldn't tell) is my all time, top quality, must order on the 15th of every month favorite stamp company.

4. Cricut...You all know I love anything Cricut...I don't even need to tell you anything more than that.
5. Ink...Jenni Bowlin's ink has become a must have in my collection. There are 12 colors currently available and I hope she comes out with more soon.

6. Pattern Paper...OK I'm a total paper hoarder. I have a very hard time cutting into such beautiful papers. Sometimes I order two, one to keep and one to cut. LOL My favorite company that I like to have in my stash is October Afternoon.

7.  Scor Buddy, Scor pal, or Martha Stewart Scoreboard. You gotta have one of these. If you just make cards then the Scor Buddy is for you. Wanna try your hand at bigger projects like rosettes, boxes or envelopes then go with a 12x12 score board. I personally love all three of these.

8. QuickStik by QuicKutz. Oh those darn tiny Cricut pieces are so hard to pick up and place with my fat little fingers...Here are a few places you can order from... QuicKutz outlet, Cut at Home, (it's currently out of stock right now) and Amazon (but it's a little more pricey there). You can also purchase them at Hobby Lobby too.

9. Cuttlebug or Big Shot...I think both of these are great. I would recommend either of them. I use my Cuttlebug for embossing and quick cutting and my Big Shot for die cutting chipboard with my Sizzix dies.

10. Paper Trimmer...Desktop, quick reach, working on a card trimmer is Fiskar. I got this one many moons ago from Stampin' Up! and I love it. For chipboard...The jury is still out on my 12" Fiskar rotary trimmer that I got when I broke my favorite X-Acto trimmer. I just can't get the hang of it and I don't like that I have to swipe it back and forth several times to get it to cut. I tried a new blade and that didn't help...I think if I had to do it over again I would go back to the X-Acto trimmer.

OK well I hope you enjoyed my top 10 must haves for crafting.
Have a great Thursday...

Sketch/Project Box

Hi Everyone,
I was getting caught up on some Live with Prima shows last week and saw this box that Marion made. I loved it and decided to try one for myself. I made mine as a project/sketch box. The box itself only took about an hour to put together, it was picking out what paper to use on the box that was tough. I  love October Afternoon pattern paper and I had a really hard time persuading myself to cut it....Especially some of the older paper that is harder to find. Check out Two Peas in a Bucket if you are looking for some OA.

Here is a quick video on my box. Click HERE to watch it on You Tube.

Check out Marion's Ustream video HERE

Have a great week :)

Craftroom Update

Hi Everyone,
I've been working little by little to update my craftroom. I'm loving how its set up now. There is still lots to do, like paint my closet and buy a shelving unit to go inside. I moved lots of my not so used stuff into the closet and the rest I'm organizing little by little.

I repainted my room to a light turquoise color and I can't believe how much brighter and bigger my room feels. The picture below is one of my favorite areas. I put two cabinets from Lowes together and they made great display area and storage...

The next picture is what I keep on top of the cabinets.

The top drawer I keep some of my packaged stamps...

The middle drawer of this cabinet is empty (room to grow). The bottom drawer is filled with flowers (Prima, IAMRoses, Recollections etc).

In the other cabinet the top drawer is used for misc stuff...

and in the bottom doors is where I keep all my chipboard and Sizzix Dies/Embossing folders.

The boxes and basket below sit next to the cabinets above. The big box on the bottom is filled with material, the next box is wooden punches and the basket is all my newest paper collections.
Well that's all for today. Have a great Wednesday...

Another Mother's Day Card

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday....Today's card is another Mother's Day Card that I made for my mom. I couldn't post it earlier since she's a follower of my blog and I didn't want her to see it until I gave it to her on Sunday.

Mom (Carol) loves to craft too. She's amazingly wicked with a crochet hook, but now I have her totally hooked (get it hooked, crochet hook...I know that was bad) on paper crafting. I used to drag her kicking and screaming to the CK (Creative Keepsake) Convention in Valley Forge...She can't wait to go this year...

So here it is...I've been in a real stamping mood lately and playing with my Paper Trey Ink Stamps and dies....

Happy Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day Weekend. Yesterday we went out to dinner with my mom, Scott's parents, and Scott's brothers family. It was such a nice time. I really enjoyed it. Thanks Scott and Ethan for a wonderful Mother's Day.

Last night I realized I never made any videos for this coming week. I think I needed the weekend to relax after the two week marathon of video making :). Glad to be back to my normal schedule....I really struggled on what to make until I came across the book feature on Elegant Edges. I really like all those shapes and welding them together to make a card base makes this cartridge even more versatile.

Here is your video for today...

Cardstock: Black (Paper Trey Ink), White (Neenah); Pattern Paper: October Afternoon (Modern Homemaker), Stamps: Fillable Frames #1 and #10 (Paper Trey Ink); Ribbon: Black Stitched (Paper Trey Ink); Misc. ATG Gun, Fountain Pen Ink (Jenni Bowlin), Cough Syrup Ink (Jenni Bowlin), Bumpy Road Punch (EK Success)

Have a great day

Mother's Day Card

Hi All,

Ethan came home today with a card he made at school for Mother's Day. Ethan being Ethan not only made the card to me, he made it for his Grandma's and aunts too. I think we need to share it :) He is just the sweetest kid ever...I'll post a picture of the card later this weekend :)

Thought I would share a quick post on a card I made for Mother's Day. I was in the mood to do a little stamping.

I used the Flower Fusion #2 (Paper Trey Ink) stamp set and die to create the flower. I've been getting a lot of use out of this set of stamps. The sentiment is from Fillable Frame's #4 (Paper Trey Ink).

The card is a standard A2 size card with several layers. I wasn't worried about how heavy the card was since I knew I was going to be hand delivering it to my mother-in-law.

Cardstock: Kraft (Paper Trey Ink), Peach (Canvas Core'dinations)
Pattern Paper: Thrift Shop (6x6 pad October Afternoon)
Stamps: Flower Fusion #2, Fillable Frames #4 (Paper Trey Ink)
Ink: Stick Candy (Jenni Bowlin)
Misc: Sewing, Flower Fusion Die (PTI)

Thanks everyone for stopping by.
Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend :)

Hugs to all you mom's.

Cricut Expression 2: Episode #6 Connecting the Gypsy

Hi All,
Here is the last video in the series. This video will cover how to use your Gypsy with your Cricut Expression 2. Remember you need to update both your Cricut Expression 2 and your Gypsy to make it work.

Looking forward to working on some projects and getting back to my regular posting/video schedule. To many videos the past two weeks and it takes time to make, edit, upload and post, so I'm ready for my regular schedule.
Hugs and happy crafting,

Cricut Expression 2: Episode #4 Tools Icon (Part 2)

Happy Wednesday,

Today is #4 in the Cricut Expression 2 series. We will continue to go over the Tools Icon and learn about  how to change the mat size of your project, changing the paper size, start position, and center point.

Enjoy today's video and I'll be back tomorrow with the final two videos in the series.

Some questions answered:
Do you always have to use another mat? It depends...the machine determines if the size is too big for it to fit on one mat and will automatically transfer the next image over to another mat.

What's the difference between the E2 and the Gypsy? The E2 doesn't have the ability to weld, move images anywhere you want on the screen, or store your cartridges. Although those capabilities are not available now the E2 is 100% upgradable and you never know what they will add.

Can you use the Jukebox? I'm not sure, I will have to find that out. Someone commented that they saw on HSN that yes you can...

Will you show how to use the Gypsy with the E2? Yep, coming in a video tomorrow.

Will the E2 be available again? From what I understand yes, but it might not have the 4 cartridges pre-loaded on the machine.

When is WiFi coming out? I read it's coming out in the fall.

Will I be doing anything for National Scrapbook Day? No, I celebrate World Cardmaking Day in October. I plan on scrapping the day away on Saturday. I think it's going to rain too, another reason to stay in and play.

Hugs and happy crafting,

Cricut Expression 2: Episode #1 Getting Started

Happy Monday Everyone,
What a fabulous weekend, Friday I went to the Circus with Ethan's class and it was so much fun. I tell you though, I was happy not to hear "Mrs. Thomas, can I..." (go to the bathroom, get a snack, buy a toy, what time does it start, what time is it over, can I have cotton candy)...We had a blast!

Anyway since I got my Cricut Expression 2 I've been working on videos for you all. I tell you I'm more in love with this machine than I was when I watched the videos and saw the announcement from CHA!
Enjoy the first episode in the Cricut Expression 2 video series....

I'll be back tonight to announce the winner of the Disney Pixar Blog Hop giveaway from Friday :)
Have a great Monday and see you tomorrow for more CE2 videos....

Hugs and Happy Crafting,
