Hi Everyone,
The other day when I posted my video on comparing the Cricut and Silhouette, Nikki one of my blog followers asked if I ever heard of scanning a stamped image and making my own die cut that would work with the image. I would call it a shadow image to my stamped image....I was so excited about the idea of taking my CC Design stamps❤ and making my own die cuts for them I couldn't wait to figure it out...So here we go...
Happy Monday,
What a weekend! That's all I can say...What a weekend!
Today I thought I would share some comparisons between the Cricut and the Silhouette. A lot of you asked why I picked up the Silhouette when I already have the Cricut. My main reason was I wanted to get back into making layouts and scrapping my family memories. I liked that I can order just the image that I need rather than buying a whole cartridge. I can use my computer fonts to create titles for my layouts, it cuts those little detailed images beautifully, and the Silhouette is nice and compact. Plus the software is Mac compatible.
Happy Friday Everyone,
Today's card is for Ethan...He heads back to school next week and I always give him a little card in the morning before he leaves for school...You know, just a little something to remind him how much we love him and how proud we are of him.
Yesterday I mentioned I had two layouts I wanted to redo. This is the 2nd one. You can find the first version of this layout here. I think using black and white photos was the better choice, however in these photos they look a little brighter than they really are.
I didn't really add much embellishments to this layout. The paper did the work for me.
This is the first time I tried to incorporate stamping into my journaling. It was fun.
It was a little time consuming at first. I found that using text boxes for the spaces I planned to stamp in helped make it a little easier.
Hi Everyone,
What a great weekend I had scrapping. It was so nice staying home with my family and spending some time working on my families memories. I have another layout in the works and hope to finish it tonight.
Maybe you remember these pictures from a layout I did back in February (check it out here). I finally purchased a scrapbook for 2010 and when I was putting the layouts in the album I had two that just wasn't sitting well with me. Ethan's 8th birthday was one...
It started out as a one page layout and turned into two...I think this has to be one of my most favorites I've done for 2010. Of course it has some Nichole Magourik in it...
Here is page one...
I used a Storyboard kit from Kerri Bradford to make my photo collage.
Celebrating you...is from the Silhouette store.
(Here's a close up on the detail cut)
Most of the pattern paper is from Echo Park's Little Boy collection, but I also tossed in some Dots & Stripes and Playground (Echo Park).
I printed my journaling on one of the journaling tags from the Little Boy collection.
Watching Nicole Magourick has really gotten me into stamping on my layouts. The celebrate border is an Ali Edwards (Technique Tuesday) stamp that I stamped out in a few different Jenni Bowlin colors.
Here's page two:
I carried the border over from the first page of the layout and added a little scrap of the pattern paper to continue the flow of the layout.
I added a few circles from two different sized circle punches and I found these really cute star buttons in my stash. I thought they fit in really nicely.
I love this "Happy Birthday" cut, also from Silhouette.
Thanks everyone for stopping by. Have a great Tuesday...Is it Friday yet?
I was working on a layout this weekend and was browsing some images at the Silhouette Store. I found this card in the new designs and couldn't resist making it as an anniversary card for Scott.
I promise once I get some more practice with Silhouette Studio I will do a video tutorial or two. The software is easy to use, but there are a lot of buttons and I keep forgetting what each one does. Maybe once Ethan is back in school and the house is settled again I can really sit and write out a few ideas and come up with a tutorial or two.
I could not wait for Thursday night to get a chance to play in my room. It's so nice and comfy now that it's all done. I plan to do a little scrapping this weekend. I have a layout that I can't wait to get started on.
I was talking with my mom on the phone last night telling her I didn't know what to do for today's Stampin' On Friday video. She said "Lawn Fawn". Great idea...Thanks mom!
Hi Everyone,
My craft room is done!!!! Yahooo!!!!!
It was a lot of work, but once I start a project like this I don't stop until it's done. I still have to redo my closet, but thats a winter's day project. It needs to be painted and then install new shelving.
Here's a video of what I did and a few storage tips...
Here's what I added to my room. From Ikea: Besta Shelving, Ribba Shelving, Expidit, Bygiel Rails, Storage boxes. My computer desk is from Target. Here is the video with the Ribba shelves that Teri found. Love that idea. And finally here is my chair (I ordered Apple Green)
I told you all a while ago how I decided not to be in the business of selling DVD's anymore, I still have some of the Everyday Cards DVD available...I'm having a special Craft Room Clean Up Sale on my DVD...Click HERE to order...
Enjoy your day and see you all back here Friday for Stampin' on Friday...
Hugs
Happy Friday,
I have to tell you, I've been having so much fun with these Stampin' On Friday videos. I'm starting to use stuff I've purchased and haven't played with, I find myself searching my room for materials. Trying new things, I start with a totally clean desk and finish with it covered with all my supplies. I love it...
Today's card started as a circle card and I was determined to use pink, I just couldn't find the right pink in my paper stash, I even had Scott in my room helping me look for pink. lol After searching and playing, I just was not being satisfied with the results of the circle card. So I made this card...
WOW has this been a whirlwind of a past two weeks. Last week was total craziness with training and learning a new system at work...This week I'm getting caught up on everything I didn't do last week and making sure everyone is comfortable in my department with the new system. I'm also working on a pretty cool project for the month of September. Did you know that September is library card sign up month? Yep it is...I'm sure you don't want to hear about my crazy work schedule though.
Here is a layout that has been in the works for two weeks. I finally got to sit and really work on it this past weekend. I can't believe Ethan starts 4th grade in just a few weeks. This summer is just flying by.
I totally lifted this from a "From Start To Finish" video by Nichol Magourik. Sometimes I just really struggle with layouts and Nichol's videos help so much. I hope they never stop, I look forward to them every Wednesday❤. Yes! Today is Wednesday....
Here are a few pictures...I know I stink at taking pictures of layouts. I'll get better with practice (I think)
The "3rd Grade" cut is from a Kerri Bradford Kit. She has some great kits for school and lots of other wonderful kits as well. I used my Silhouette to cut it out in a gray cardstock for the base layer and a red American Crafts pattern paper for the 3.
Even though it's hard to see in the picture.
I cut out "elementary" also with my Silhouette. I got this cut from Silhouette America's library store...
Well I'm off to work. I hope everyone has a great day☀...Enjoy
Hi Everyone,
What a fabulously relaxing weekend! We just hung out this weekend and enjoyed the rain. I love the rain, it's a great excuse to stay inside and play. I even got a little work done on organizing stuff on my blog. I created those little images on the right side so it's a little easier to find some of my series videos and such.
Here is your video for today. I was flipping through some of my 6x6 paper pads and came across the Fly a Kite and I couldn't help it, I had to use it.There are so many great little images on the Designer Calendar cartridges. I forget they are there.
I can't tell you how happy I am that it's Friday!!! It was a long week with so much going on. We've been installing new software and hardware at work and there has been lost of training and working with the staff to show them how it works. I'm looking forward to a stay at home weekend. It's been a while since we've had one of those and I really can't wait.
Today's Stampin' On Friday card was so much fun...I enjoyed playing with fabric, canvas and sewing on this card.
One thing I learned was I need a different type of fusible webbing. The one I purchase was from Joann's but it was called "lite" which I didn't see until I go home. So tonight I'll run to Walmart and get the Heat and Bond which is another product I saw in a tutorial that would work.
Here is the video I did on Monday using the Flower Shoppe Cartridge
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend.
I did a little shopping with my mom on Friday and we stopped at Joann's. I was so happy to see they had the Cricut Projects Cartridge "Flower Shoppe". This cartridge came out a few weeks ago with a Hello Thursday release. I absolutely love this cartridge.
Today I thought I would share with you how to make a few of the flowers from this cartridge.
