2012 Advent Calendar in the works

Hi Everyone,
Thought I would share what I started this weekend. The first picture is a little bit bright...Didn't have good lighting when I took it. Sorry :0)
It started off as raw wood...I've been admiring this at AcMoore for a while and when I went to pick up some of the My Mind Eye 6x6 pads they had on sale for $1.99 I found they still had it...I just had to get it...couldn't resist it with my 60% off coupon...

I was going to crackle the whole thing, but I think I might just crackle the drawers and leave the tree red (well it's really berry wine). I noticed once the drawers where painted it was harder to get them back in the slots. I had to do a little sanding to get them to slide better. I think it was the crackle that I got on the edges that made it a little harder to open and close the drawers. I tried to only crackle the drawer fronts so I didn't have troubles getting them in again.

Here's what it looks like right now...Next I need to decorate. I'm thinking some of the drawers I will put the #'s right on the drawer and the others I will make little tags and put the #'s on the tags and hang them off the knobs. I haven't really decided yet. I still have a couple more days before I have to put the calendar in use...

Thats all for today...I'm out of work early and once I get my dish made for the big day tomorrow I'll work more on my advent calendar.

Hey before I go...I have to tell you...I'm not getting up early on Friday morning and shopping. I'm getting up early and going to be on the other side of the counter. Yep...I'm retailer this time around. First time ever....I'm actually kind of looking forward to it :)...I know what you're thinking, but Christina you work in a library...Well the library has been given this great opportunity to open a library/store in our local mall. We are a library and bookstore all in one :) I've been one of the key people working on this project for the last few months (it's why I've been a little behind on my video making and blogging) and we're opening at 5am Friday. I do have plans though to shop when I'm done at the store :)

Have a great Wednesday
Hugs to all
