My Desk...

Hi All,
You probably remember over the summer when I re-did my craft room (HERE is the video with the stuff I picked up at TJ Maxx over the summer and HERE is the full room tour). I had purchased a few of these really cute black desk accessories and I love them. I picked up another one (two) this weekend and did a little organizing. I was surprised TJMaxx and Marshal's still had them since they usually sell out of stuff quick and they don't restock.

Sorry about the poor photo quality, I took all the photos with my cell phone :)

Okay now doesn't that Making Memories caddy just stick out like a sore thumb? Really white!!!

...Well...

...Not anymore...

I painted it...Yep I did...
I have the older Making Memories caddy that Michael's use to sell a while back. It has a flat finish so it was all ready to be painted without having to sand.

First I took off all the hardware. Don't ya just love my girly screwdriver :)

Then I used regular acrylic craft paint (FolkArt Licorice to be exact) that you would buy at the craft store and I have to say it came out pretty nice. I'm waiting to see how it holds up and if I'll need to give it a clear coat. I'm hoping I don't have to clear coat it just in case I want to change the color again.

Here is what it looks like after painting and all filled up with my tools.

I'm very happy with how it came out. I was working at my desk today and so far no chips out of the paint.
Have a great rest of the weekend :)
Hugs and happy crafting,
Christina

  3. Very cool! Great to know that we can paint this tool caddy, as you just never know when the need to change it up will strike! I still like my white one, though. BethAnn M.

  9. Thanks for sharing! I've been thinking of doing this too ... especially since it's the only white piece in my craft room.

  10. Sure glad you can't see my craft spaces. I don't have anything but three boxes that match.

  12. I have that same caddy (got mine at Michael's) and love it. Most of the stuff in my craft room is white so I don't need to paint mine, but good to know it's an option if I want to change things up sometime.

  13. It looks great. I have the same organizer from Michael's and thinking of getting another. Was gonna paint it black but have decided that the accents will be black and the furniture white.
Thanks for sharing. I love your room:)

  14. Isn't great what we can do with paint! So many people forget to do that. I don't know how many times I have heard I need to get something different because it doesn't match, and I ask why? Just paint it then it will. I giggle every time. Have a happy day!
